11. How do I get a username to log in?
Updated April 4th, 2012
Your username is your full email address that you had provided to the MCM Food Panel. Use this registered email address, all in lower case letters. If you are an mts user, try using @mts.net, instead of @mymts.net. Lastly, if you are not a registered participant, you will not be able to log into a survey. You may register with the Project Coordinator after May 7th.
If you are experiencing additional trouble accessing your survey, please contact:

12. Will I be asked to buy anything?
You will never be asked to purchase anything.
13. Why should I participate?
This is your chance to make a difference. By filling out a survey, you're helping:
- make sure you and your family can continue to use the products you love,
- develop new, healthier, tastier food products that are better for you and your family,
- create new policies and programs that will guarantee a strong, healthier future for Manitobans.
14. What's in it for me?
In case you don't have enough reasons already, here's another great reason for you to join. For every survey completed you will be entered for the potential opportunity of receiving 1 of 180 gift cards for groceries worth $50 or $125, as well as two incentives of $500 each! Draws will be completed every other survey, giving you a chance of receiving a gift card up to 3 times per year. For survey distribution and deadlines click here.
15. What are the incentives?
There will be an incentives draw after every other survey, for gift cards to grocery stores. That way, you can talk about food and eat it too! Please submit your survey within 15 days of receiving the online link or the paper copy. For survey distribution and deadlines click here.
16. How do I know if I won a gift card?
Draws will be completed every other survey. At that time you will be contacted by phone or email. Your gift card will be mailed out to you, unless you make arrangements to pick up the gift card at our office.
Unfortunately, gift cards that are lost in the mail are not the responsibility of the Manitoba Consumer Monitor Food Panel to replace, but staff members will investigate into each matter to see what can be done.
17. I am a new participant. Why didn't I get the previous surveys?
Thank you for becoming a participant in our food study! Unfortunately, the previous surveys have been closed and analyzed. You can see these results by visiting our report summaries page.

19. I received a newsletter in the mail, stating that gift cards were being sent out. Did I win?
Updated April 4th, 2012
First, we should clarify that the newsletter sent out March 29th (http://www.mcmfoodpanel.ca/images/stories/panelist_newsletter4.pdf) was simply letting you know that we were notifying the lucky recipients who were chosen in our last draw. Everyone had received the newsletter, but only 178 participants received an email and/or phone call letting them know that they were the lucky recipients.
20. How many times did you try to contact the gift card recipients?
Updated April 4th, 2012
If you were chosen to be a recipient, we would have tried to contact you via email and/or phone three times, sometime between March 21st and April 4th. If the Project Coordinator has left you a voicemail and/or email asking for you to confirm your mailing address, you will have until May 7th to do so. Please email your confirmation at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
21. I have an old email link from a previous survey. How can I complete it?
Updated April 4th, 2012
Unfortunately, when surveys go offline they will not be re-opened. This is to ensure that the responses we receive from the panelists all come from the same timeline. Doing a survey at a different time of year may influence your opinions. For example - a question about accessing local food would receive different responses in the winter than it would if asked in the summer.
